I learned a great lesson.

Today, at sunset, I decided to go for a dip in the Kinneret.  I was feeling so blessed and grateful to be living the life I’m living.  Filled with joy, the waves were rushing toward me, and I was feeling awesome.  Though the waves were a bit rough, I figured why not go for a little swim.  I began swimming against the waves, with the ease of a fish.

Find your flow.
Find your own flow.

I swam for a bit, and decided it was time to head back to shore.  As I turned around and began swimming with the waves, my swimming became much more challenging! Every time I thought I was swimming back to shore the waves pulled me to the side or back!  I began fighting with the waves, my mind began rushing, “You’re going to drown. How will you ever make it back to shore? You’re out here alone.  This was a dumb idea…” yada yada yada, you get the picture, and you know how the mind has the potential to take a downward spiral.  Pitom, suddenly, it dawned on me, “Just stand up.”

I could reach the Kinneret floor with great ease, and I decided to walk back to shore. (I later remembered, the initial reason I told myself I could go swimming at this hour was because the water was so shallow…but alas, when caught in the wave, I briefly forgot…)

On this Kinneret Dip I learned a lot about life.

1) I will never swim easily through life if I go in the same direction as the flow.  For me, going against the wave, makes more sense.

2) When I catch my mind spinning me into a downward spiral, I can change my thought pattern to one of success.  In any time of struggle, there is always a way out.

3) G-d has put me in the exact spot I am supposed to be in life. And for that, I am grateful.

I hope you all have a wonderful morning, evening, or afternoon, and I pray that in your harder times, you can remember, if you just stand up, look up, and pray for help…it will come.
